Intent
In September 2019 Ark Priory started their MFL provision with the following aims: spark an interest in languages among the school community and embed language acquisition in the culture of the school. Since the start of the programme, there was continuity in the delivery of Spanish lessons throughout lockdowns and school closures. Specialist teachers worked with classroom teachers and pupils in flexible and creative ways. The main aim during school closures was to keep the language momentum going and make sure children stayed engaged.
Implementation
Spanish lessons take place once a week for 45 minutes. This means the pupils will have approx. 36 45min. lessons in the year.
The content is delivered using the Language Angels approach to language acquisition: guided participation in tasks, games and activities that are meaningful, engaging and age appropriate. The resources and programme link the teaching to the 12 attainment targets set out in the DfE Languages Programme of Study for KS2.
