At Ark Priory, we believe our children should have access to the best opportunities to fulfil their potential. The more resources the community can provide our children, the better chance they will have to fulfil their potential, so that means raising funding for things that public funding will not cover.

Our fundraising priority this year is to raise money to create a new outdoor learning space.

Learning outside the classroom supports the development of healthy and active lifestyles by offering children opportunities for physical activity, freedom and movement, and promoting a sense of well-being. We would like our outdoor area to give our children contact with the natural world. Playing and learning outside also helps children to understand and respect nature, the environment and the interdependence of humans, animals, plants, and lifecycles. High quality outdoor learning develops children’s problem-solving skills and nurtures their creativity, as well as providing rich opportunities for their developing imagination, inventiveness and resourcefulness.

We would like to provide an outstanding outdoor learning environment which can be used by children in all weathers. It is currently difficult to use when it is raining, too windy or too hot, which means that when experiencing these weather conditions the children can only access the small areas currently next to the classrooms that are covered. By expanding the cover it will provide the children with more space to learn in the outdoors!

Our fundraising target is £14,000 which will enable us to cover over our early years outdoor area. This will enable us to:

-Do Cycling and ScootFit sessions for physical activity and wellbeing.

-Investigate and explore natural materials to connect students to the natural world.

- Participate in sand and water explorative activities to develop their problem solving and creativity skills.
