Nursery Autumn Term Update

Thursday 14 January 2016

The first term is all about helping the children to settle into the rules and routines in the nursery.  It is important that children feel safe and secure and quickly feel familiar in their surroundings.

The children engage in a range of planned independent learning experience. These learning experiences range from free play activities, outdoor learning activities, music, circle time and story time.

Children are given time to make choices, to settle and develop into self-exploring independent learners. These experiences are enriched on many occasions throughout the nursery year by outings and visitors to the Nursery.

In the second half of the Autumn term our topic was ‘Out and About’. We explored Acton Park in our local area and collected leaves, twigs and conkers.

One day PC Rob visited us and talked about his job as a policeman and what to do if we are lost. We were all very excited to try on his police hats!

In December we went to see the play ‘Father Christmas’ at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith.  We learnt about how to behave in the theatre and discussed our theatre experience in class.

We were learning about Christmas and were busy practising our songs and lines for the Nativity Play. The children did a brilliant job on stage; they all excelled in their performance!
