A day at Nursery
At the core of our Nursery intent is to enable and encourage children to become independent and prepare them for Reception class.
Our Nursery is routine includes periods of purposeful exploration time, punctuated by small group work and whole class carpet sessions – each of these having a different focus each day, for example, topic time, maths, music, phonics and PSHE (Personal, Social, Heath and Economic education). We also have repeat routines and expectations for arrival, tidy up time and snack time; this puts the cognitive load heavily on the child and helps them to feel ownership and pride in their own space.
Below is the routine we use for the first half term the children are in nursery. As the year progresses along with their listening and attention develops we extend and deepen our carpet and group time sessions.
